I am looking for old records from St. Francis of Assisi church in Chapel Hill, Monroe Twp., Perry County, Ohio. They are supposed to be stored at your church. I am looking for the family of Michael and Alice Murtagh Mallen/Mellen who lived in Chapel Hill from 1831 until 1866. They are the parents of 12 children. The Mallens that I have found were buried at Chapel Hill. They attended mass in Chapel Hill, their children were christened at Chapel Hill.
Can you help me. Do you have the records from Chapel Hill from 1850 to 1870? Any and all help would be appreciated. I have been searching for 34 years. My name is Ruth Rocco and my E Mail address is My phone no is 610-382-9279. I can send more information if needed. Many thanks in advance for any help.

Rose…if you are still on the hunt for these gravesites…
Have you contacted the Diocese of Columbus to find the records for St. Francis of Assisi cemetery. A Find-a-Grave citation indicates that a Mr. Bernard Murtaugh donated the land for this cemetery. He was likely your Alice Murtaugh Mallen’s relative.
Diocesan records are kept by the Catholic Record Society at the Diocese of Columbus.
I have had to contact them re: an ancestor of mine buried in the old Catholic Cemetery in Corning, Ohio: St. Malachi’s., and am currently awaiting a response from them. If you have not already contacted the Society in Columbus, their director is Michael Finn. His phone # is: 614-241-2571, and his email is:
      Good luck!
